The Fifth Toy Story Film Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie was released, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.

Coming in 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang

The preview shows the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting giveaway items find good homes.

Certainly, the filmmakers will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Previous Film

At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before setting off for his new life was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.

Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
